Sketchbook - Faun 2

Some more doodling on the Faun piece. I'm calling it the faun piece but it actually has more to do with the Pine Faerie - still just messing with design ideas and the pose.

Sketchbook - Faun

Some pencil work for a personal piece I'm going to try and get done in the next week or so. I want to have a figure lounging in a tree - maybe a faerie - with a faun or two milling around in the back ground - so I'm just goofing around with some faun ideas. I also want to get the right pose on the faerie - more work required.

Teeney Too

Here is another version of Teeney O'Feeney for the book project I'm currently working on called Teeney O'Feeney King of the Leprechauns. I think this one may end up being the cover.

The Jack

The Jack is for Jack O' Lantern of course. Inspired I'm sure by our recent foray through the Hallowe'en season which I love so much. The leafless trees, the early sunsets, the windy nights - autumn !
This painting is small, really small. It's about 4 by 7 inches - gouache. Just a quickie for my own amusement.

I've got something new starting up soon that I shouldn't really talk about. But here are some pages anyway - just getting ready, warming up, concepting and getting a head start. It will of course have to do with super-natural and or mythical characters - but that's all I can say.

French Dragons

This project was for a french publisher. It's to be a book about dragons. They invited me to participate and I agreed even though I'm not really one for drawing dragons. I thought I would be clever and pose some figures around a dragon skull and avoid actually having to draw the dragon itself. This idea didn't fly with them for obvious reasons but I enjoyed making the drawings and concepting it out.

The Secret History of Giants

This picture is from the recently published Secret History of Giants book from Templar. I worked on this project through last Christmas and am quite happy to see it out now - in a book shop near you ;). This illustration seems to be one of the more popular ones as it keeps turning up in the promotions. It depicts the giant wearing all his artifacts and doodads.

Unfinished

I drove this painting into the ditch. It happens - it started feeling wrong at about the half-way point. I decided not to put myself through the pain of trying to fix it. However I was kind of happy with these characters so I scanned them anyway. One of these days I hope to get back to it when I'm feeling a bit better about it. Until then .....
