Tendrils

This is the other piece I have for Spectrum. It too is watercolour. I have many more ideas to go along with this theme but those will have to wait. In my imagination I see these little scenes as taking place in a tangled old Witch Garden. A secret place where lots of small and hidden things are happening.

Thanks for stopping by. I've been by your blog several times in the last couple of days and am completely floored by your beautiful, weird and imaginative drawings.

i'd like to add poortvliet to that list. there's a wonderful sense of fantasy in everyday nature that seems to be creeping more and more into your work.

but now that i type, i think it's probably always been there...

"now that i type it..."

(ps... is it just me, or are the security tags on blogger getting way more fun? i just had to type "pustroch". tell that isn't the name of one of larry's giants...)

Rien Poortvliet.
Absolutely !
A big favourite. We must have at least 7 or 8 of his books, probably more. I just love how everything is so natural in his work - the colour and drawing especially.

Pustroch is a nasty old sinner who wanders the northern most regions of the Boreal Forest, searching for and feasting on misguided eco tourists who have headed north to pillage our lakes and streams.

Beautiful work man! And your sketch pages are really fantastic, there is so much life to them.

Thanks Justin. I appreciate that. I was and am completely blown away by your blog and project concerning the Hobbit. Your work is terrific.
