Brownies
A bit more of the pencil work done for the Irish Myths project - just designing and drawing and trying to stay loose and open to whatever may present itself.
Having read a great deal of Irish Faerielore, not to mention living in Ireland, I always pictured Leprechauns and other Irish Faeries (sidhe) as quite earthy, even grubby. I think your sketchbook portraits really sum up this feeling. There are certainly beautiful Irish Faeries, namely the Tuatha de Danann, of whom all Irish Faeries are said to descend from, but these guys look to be much more fun to draw!
Jay - you are correct of course - fun to draw and earthy is the idea at the moment. The story is rooted in Irish myth but not an actual myth and so ultimately, the look that best serves the story will be the one chosen. But nevertheless some of these guys will make good background characters.
"WOW" Larry, I love your work, it looks as though you will bring this next project to life. Wonderful as per usual. xxx
