Rabbit's Cottage - New Watercolour

Yes, this is a new watercolour, but it is also a reworking of a picture I made about a year ago that I called Rabbit's Garden. At that time, when I painted Rabbit's Garden, I also started this one which is about twice the size. I wasn't sure which one was going to work but I was curious to see if I could get this larger version off the ground. However I felt at the time that the smaller one was looking stronger so I completed it and put this one away. I recently pulled it out again and felt as though I was now ready to pick up where I left off with it.

For the past year or so I have been working through the most horrendous creative block. You've probably noticed posts going up and coming down as I search for a path out of this wilderness and try to get around whatever it is that's keeping me from moving forward. I feel, for now at least, as though completing this picture is a step in the right direction.

Thanks for bearing with me.

More soon.

  1. So, go back through your blog and gather up all your Gwelph (sp?) posts, start sorting them out and start on a guidebook. It's a fascinating little village. You've got a treasure trove there.

  2. LOVE it!(ooh and I love the idea Gwelf guidebook!) And don't worry you'll get inspired again - I've also had a similar sort of year, no fun at all, but I'm trying new things with my art and slooowly dragging my way out of my hole! :P

  3. WOL - you are so on the money. That's pretty much what I am thinking. I don't know why I ever left Gwelf, but it's been "a long and winding road" I can tell you - to quote PM. Thanks WOL. :)

  4. Thanks WH. I appreciate the support and it's nice to know I'm not the only one stuck in the mud - good luck to both of us.

  5. The painting is wonderful and I too am stuck with my art. I remember stuck in the mud, 1 rubber boot coming off and having to tell mom I didn't know where it was when I showed up at the door with one muddy sock and a cold wet foot. We will all become unstuck - my art is changing directions as well. bh

  6. Thanks BH - The worst thing you can do is give up. I find that leaving the sketchbook and getting into the journal to be a good idea. It's surprising how a little personal writing can really help. Good luck.
