I have a project coming up later this spring that is going to involve lots of kid drawing. The above posted drawings are from a recent morning warm-up session . These were drawn from reference with an emphasis, hopefully, of capturing the character and spirit of the kids while trying also to stay loose and draw with a light touch - a tall order. That's why these are warm-ups. :)
I have 11 grandchildren you're welcome to borrow for reference.
ReplyDeleteOhh, getting children down is a challenge. If you're drawing them from life you have to be super fast and just get a gesture down.
ReplyDeleteThese are great. You're sketches are always an inspiration.
Kim - Thanks, I will have to keep that in mind :)
ReplyDeleteBen - You are so right. The hardest part for me is getting them to look the proper age. A 6 year old is different from a 9 year old but those differences are so subtle - it's a challenge !
ReplyDeleteThose are hilarious- so much energy and expression. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and their proportions are in such a state of flux.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I mentioned your art in my blog -how I found it early on in my career and how it really motivated me.
WOW! Very expressive, I use to sketch, I haven't done any for years, good luck with your project.
ReplyDeleteas usual Great work. xxx
Gabriel - Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBen - I'm honoured - thanks so much :)
ReplyDeleteTiny Pearl - It's never too late to get back into it. With your imagination and mind for stories I'll bet you have a lot to offer :)
