Its selling point was that there was a place to park your car -- a "hotel" but with sufficient parking. They were originally units with car ports, but evolved into what we see now. In fact, the word "motel" was coined from motor+hotel. I'd buy "Owl Hotel" but since there are no cars or parking spaces, I don't think you could call it a "motel."
